Current Project

Working in partnership with Franklin Park Church, an Assemblies of God church plant in Indianapolis, IN, we are currently developing organic, community-based outreach in the neighborhoods of southeastern Marion County, IN (Franklin Twonship).  Larger plans include launching other missional, Spirit-empowered churches and developing leaders for those new congregations.  Leon is currently serving FPC as a Resident Missionary for Multiplication, Leadership Development and Life Groups.

We are currently taking the following steps to reach our goals:
  1. Assisting church members in launching MicroChurches (a.k.a. Life Groups) to reach people in their neighborhoods.
  2. Leading a semi-annual Alpha Course to introduce people to faith in Christ.
  3. Developing a MicroChurch Leaders course to train congregation members to lead new MicroChurches as they are launched.
  4. Assisting Franklin Park Church in recruiting and equipping volunteers for their children's outreach.
  5.

Quick Facts About Franklin Township and SE Indy

  1. Unigov (for those unfamiliar with Indianapolis geography): In the 1970's all of Marion County, except 4 suburbs, was annexed by the City of Indianapolis into one city-county government structure under a system called Unigov.  Franklin Township is one of 9 townships in Marion County that was subsumed into the city as part of this change.  When we refer to Southeast Indy - Marion County or Franklin Township over time we are referring to the same area.
  2. Franklin Township is one of the fastest growing townships in Indianapolis.  It is a collection of small communities and housing developments, each with its own feel.  Each of these communities presents unique challenges to building relationships within the community by which a church can connect and reach out to that community.
  3. According to the web site for the International Center of Indianapolis, Indianapolis has one of the fastest growing populations of foreign-born residents in the United States with a growth of 100% since 1990.  Each of these international communities will require focused missional outreach to build bridges for churches to reach into that sub-culture.
